There are several river-faring vessels on The River Thames. One that offers something a little different to the norm is the captivating 'Lightship10'. Fun and fascination lie in its history and any dining experience here is an awe-inspiring occasion. In brief Lightship10 is the oldest existing Lightship in the world, built in Copenhagen in 1877, according to plans from Trinity House, London. The vessel oozes historical charm. It was the only lightship to be seized by the Germans in 1943 thus experiencing several air raids and to protect the crew from machine gun fire; the deck was covered with cobbled stones. In 1946 Lightship10 was restored to the Danish state by the British and subsequently served under the Danish Marine until her decommissioning in 1972. today the vessel possesses incomparable charm and is positively a unique and fun place to dine in. Since its facelift in January 2002, Lightship10 now has a trendy Scandinavian interior with an original oak timber structure, creating an incredible experience. There is a superb menu offering exceptional value at £14.50 for three courses and also an A La Carte menu is available and vegetarian options, plus a sturdy wine wine list. Fun and fascination is assured! Lightship10, 5A, St. Katherine's Way, St. Katherine's Dock, London, E1W 1LP Tel: 020 7481 3123
