London Restaurants Article:

In addition to providing on-line booking facilities for a huge number of restaurants within the London area, the guide provides seasonal information about restaurants within the London area, topical dishes and a range of other information. A selection of these articles are featured on the front page of the guide, usually to reflect changing seasons or events that may lead restaurants to offer special menus. We hope that this section of the guide proves to be informative and will help residents and visitors to London to consider alterative menus and restaurants to those they would normally select.
Best of British
Where can you go to savour some truly British cuisine, ambience and tradition?
Rosalie Garrett discovers.

If you are visiting London or indeed if you are a native, it is imperative for you to sample some of the local delicacies. Britain is steeped in tradition none more so than in its traditional dishes. A handful of restaurants scattered throughout the city proudly endorse all that is British through their ambiences, menus and service. From Fish and chips, Sunday roast dinners to charming English service staff so why not go and savour the best of British in the city?

A Wine Time
Set within Victorian wine cellars, 'Daveys Wine Vaults' provides an extensive wine list, attentive service all within a charming ambience exuding British tradition. The food is steadfastly English being hearty and filling. Sunday heaves with happy customers savouring roasts within the cosiness of the rustic walls. Situated in leafy Greenwich London, this is a great place to spend some quality British 'time' in - sorry, I couldn't help it!

An Ale of a time
'Henry's Café Bars' are scattered throughout London but the restaurant located in Covent Garden combines a large, airy atmosphere with a contemporary English panache. The interior may not exude English tradition with a clean, modern look but the Ales scream out British taste with good range to sample.

An Eastern Promise
What could be more British than a gastro pub, situated in the heart of London's East End, serving great British grub and heaving a highly Thespian clientele? The 'Approach Tavern' provides a relaxed atmosphere, in a traditional pub, hosting a very English duke box, pouring out medley after medley of British hits from The Beatles to Cilla Black! The food is hearty, the locals friendly and the mood happy and humorous.

British flare
Embedded in deepest Soho 'Lindsay House' is one of the capitals' truly traditional and wonderful dining experiences. The restaurant is situated in a 1740s typical townhouse and the building oozes British tradition and history and you are plunged into the past. The restaurant is beautifully designed with cosy dining rooms spread over three floors. The menu includes breast of wood pigeon and roast saddle of rabbit with black pudding. A must if you want to sample fine British dining!

Hence, yet again there is too much to choose from? To add to your agony I am going to add three more restaurants for you to muse over. 'The Rosemary Branch' provides delicious homemade soups, doorstep sandwiches, calves liver with bacon and mash and ale - you can't get more British than this! 'The Windmill' with its award winning steak and kidney pie, is a must-not-be-missed opportunity and
'Rules' based in Covent Garden, celebrates the fact that it still flourishes even though it is the oldest restaurant in London serving local dishes including game, puddings and pies! Yummy!

Whichever restaurant you choose, I am sure a great British time will be had by all!
