Celebrity Haunts
Where can you wine and dine in London with celebrities at your eyes? Rosalie Garrett lets you in on the places to be seen.

I can recall dining in exclusive and expensive restaurant in Westminster London with my partner at the time for my 25th birthday. I looked up to call for service and a flush of excitement rushed over me as I realised that dining at the table opposite was the one and only 'Gary Barlow' the lead singer to the hugely successful British boy band 'Take That'. At the time he was one of the most talked about celebrities in the media and my hero. This unexpected brush with a celebrity in a highly regular setting was a wonderfully surreal experience. Imagine sipping champagne with Madonna at your eyes or sharing the same serving staff as Sting. Rare definitely, impossible or implausible? - certainly not - celebrities eat too! Here's where the celebrities are going for a bite to eat.

Star of India
This restaurant is a regular haunt for all local and international stars especially those of the musical kind from Madonna to Bryan Adams. There is an exclusive and romantic ambience, with two levels to make any dining experience highly private; a definite appeal to the famous. The restaurant is jam packed by day and by night, so it is advisable to book well in advance.

Gordon Ramsay - Claridges
Anyone who's anyone in London has to be seen at this famous restaurant. This is largely because the owner/chef Gordon Ramsay is a celebrity in himself, renowned for being meticulous and ruthless in his kitchen to ensure perfection. Based in Claridges Hotel in Chelsea, the restaurant continues to be crammed with a fine selection of diners and a continual splash of famous faces.

Chez Bruce
This is another charming restaurant and chef-patron Bruce Poole is famous for cooking excellent dishes to the delights of many celebrities. The main dining room seats approximately 70 people and the restaurant also comprises a private dining room upstairs which seats up to 18 people of which several stars have utilised for intimate occasions. Again it's advisable to book in advance at this restaurant.

There are so many celebrity restaurants to visit, from the 'Delhi Brasserie' in the heart of London's theatre land where well known music stars relax with great Indian food, 'Bibendum' restaurant which feeds celebrities with a gutsy mix of French/British bistro style food, 'Vong' the Thai/French restaurant nestled in the heart of Knightsbridge and 'Le Gavroche' where stars go and reap the rewards of this restaurant first to be awarded with one, two and three Michelin stars.

A word of advice; book in advance, way in advance a month at least before you go, act like a star and dress to impress, but don't go over board and check the dress code. Take your platinum credit card, all the confidence you can muster and go and have a star-studded time!
